So I was just looking around for some cute and fluffy shoujo anime because I had just finished Owari no Seraph and if you've watched that you know how intense that was and understand how desperate I was to watch something more lighthearted. So I stumbled upon this gem.
For some reason anime with short episodes are even more addicting than the usual 24 ish minute ones. Maybe because of the mentality that I can watch more episodes in less time keeps me watching and making bad life choices every time I click 'watch next episode'. What is self control?
At the beginning I thought this was going to be a wholesome, cute anime with Momo and Yuki going through all the stages of a loving relationship. I was wrong, very wrong. Despite her cute exterior, Yuki is very scary. Normal people don't collect their crush's straws and preserve them in vacuum seals. But I suppose that's what makes this series original. It's nice to see that the main character doesn't have all of the cliche flaws. She's not perfect in that she's clumsy and can't do home economics activities which are cliche, common qualities in shoujo anime, but what makes her a unique protagonist is her obsessive nature. I also like the fact that jealous isn't like 24 episodes of this anime. It's good that even though Yuki is obsessive, she isn't worried about Momo cheating on her. Quite refreshing I might say. It's really cute that even in the end after Yuki gives up hiding her obsessive nature, Momo still likes her. That ending scene melted my heart. Following their awkward romance was so much fun. From that first time they walked to the bus stop together and Yuki took a picture of Momo who was so innocent he didn't think anything suspicious of it to their first kiss at the very end (on the cheek but it counts), my heart was so fuzzy. Sure their love wasn't conventional in the traditional sense, but it was still super cute.
I wish they added a little bit more of Shota's and Yuzuki's story. They totally neglected the loose end when Shota lied to her about being upset over the show they were watching. It totally left me hanging. And it's still unsettling to me that Rio could let go of her love for Momo so easily. Like I'm appreciative because then Momo and Yuki could be together with no problems, but Rio let go of that too quickly which leaves me hoping that she finds love in the future because she's so nice. Also just to add, Norika is literally the best friend and wing man ever.
Overall, this is a good anime to watch if you're looking for your shoujo manga fix but maybe not have enough time to watch 24 minute episodes. It's a lot easier to find time for the 10 minute Momokuri episodes with a busy schedule. It's really cheery and pretty funny at times. Also Momo's pureness is ADORABLE. Momo may or may not have been the reason I binged so hard on this. (;´・`)>
The cuteness level in this picture is 100%
