Manga Match 91 Various Manga I've Completed

Here's a compilation of manga that I've read that haven't left enough of an impact on me for them to receive separate posts about them. This could be entirely because I've forgotten to do a post for them right after completion (this is actually the case but I'm trying to justify my actions) or because they didn't inspire me to write a post about them up until now. 

First we're going to start off with one that's actually a completed version of this newer subgenre of isekai where it's usually a girl that dies and is reborn into an otome game or a fantasy world where magic is real. Yeah, from my brief description it doesn't seem all that interesting, but I've really enjoyed discovering new isekai from a female's perspective. The only downside is that I think that this subgenre has only caught on recently, and thus there aren't many that are completed. This is one of the few that are. It's called Eh? Heibon Desu yo?? which is an interesting title in and of itself with the punctuation and colloquial nature of it.

It follows the rebirth of this ordinary schoolgirl from Japan that dies in a tragic accident and by "transmigration" ends up reborn as a baby in this fantasy land as the daughter of a count. Her father looks after the surrounding land and she uses knowledge from her past life in order to improve life in this new world. That's basically it. She teaches them things like how to increase crop productivity and about prenatal care, as well as alternative cooking techniques. It's a pretty mundane (in a good way) isekai about this little girl trying to do her best for everyone in the surrounding area. There is this one part that focuses on how OP her powers are, but overall it's just a very cute and calm story.

I'd say that if you're looking to be introduced into this new subgenre or you're like me and you're head over heels for this type of isekai and are looking for a completed one that this is a good read. It's 18 chapters so it's relatively short and it's lowkey realistic too with some pretty cute worldbuilding aspects as well.

This second manga is called Kaichou-kun no Shimobe and it features a closet otaku girl that lives a humble life, Hirayama, and a two-faced popular school president that's secretly the next head of the yakuza, Kujou. The story itself reminds me a little bit of Wolf Girl Black Prince, but with less romance and more conflict between the two main characters. This one is definitely more of a comedy with Kujou being almost a completely delusional idiot. Despite his outward appearance of someone put together and cool, Kujou is actually directionally challenged, not good at fighting, unable to swim, and is full of himself among other questionable character attributes. Hirayama on the other hand is a hard-working girl that just wants to draw her fan manga for Comiket and such, but doesn't want to be exposed at school for being an otaku so she's basically enslaved by Kujou. The story loosely follows Kujou's journey to become less of a self-entitled brat, as well as a spicy little subplot in there about how Hirayama and Kujou first met as children and led Kujou to believe that she was his fated fiancee through a tragic misunderstanding on his part.

I'd recommend it if you're looking for something that's definitely more of a comedy and if you get a kick out of kinda dumb characters like Kujou. I think that you'll find the yakuza portion of the story surprising as well. There's not a heavy plotline to follow or anything, but it's an interesting read.

The third manga was quite surprising. I think I found out about it through a collection of manga focusing on the theme of aliens. It reminds me kind of that series by Stephanie Meyer's The Host (yes I know the author of Twilight whatever) with the whole aliens taking over the bodies of humans thing. It focused on this girl named Chiyo and this popular guy she has a crush on named Tsubaki. The relationship between the two is just one sided love on Chiyo's part with Tsubaki treating her like the mortal enemy. This seems like the normal set up for a shoujo, but there's a twist when, due to various circumstances, an alien comes to inhabit Tsubaki's body. The alien goes by the name of Shin-sama and when Shin-sama is in control of the body Tsubaki doesn't remember any of what occurs during that time. Chiyo is conflicted because Shin-sama looks like Tsubaki and is actually nice to her which is kind of a dream come true. The only catch is that Tsubaki dies a little more the longer Shin-sama inhabits the body. And so, eventually the romance between Shin-sama and Chiyo is cut short as Shin-sama's friend's UFO comes to take him(?) away. And Tsubaki has changed too and become less of a jerk and more of a sweet and sensitive dude. So then Chiyo and Tsubaki end up going out...which I don't really know how I feel about this whole thing. And Shin-sama comes back to Earth and possesses a dog, only to see Chiyo end up with Tsubaki, the guy she's liked all along. And I really felt for Shin-sama because he loved Chiyo, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be.

It really was a wack manga. There were so many times I thought to myself "wtf am I reading?" in a good way. The feeling I got from the story itself was also super intriguing. The art style was a little strange for my tastes, but I think that's just the style from that time. I'd really recommend it. It's a short 7 chapter read for something that's very unique.

Manga Match 69 Kimi to Wonderland

Hello one and all, it is quickly approaching dead week as I'm writing this. There's a lot of stuff to be done before we're done for the school year and most definitely a lot of exciting things coming in terms of school involvement opportunities and stuff. It's been a wild year, but one where I've gotten out of my comfort zone A LOT.

{Spoilers, but it's really short and fluffy so not really}

I think this story was a good mix of fluffy, cheesy, and substantive. I think I'm also just very partial to stories with animals in them so this might be entirely too biased.

It focuses on a girl who lost her ability to hear other people well and the ability to understand animals after getting into an accident as a child. She later encounters a dog that's now human because of the accident that they were both in. It's a cute plot that both follows the two's budding relationship with one another while they simultaneously help out animals because of their animal-comprehensive ability.

There are some super cute parts where they help out different animals and help them find forever homes or help them actualize their dreams. The mini arc where this older dog's dying wish is to go on one last walk with his owner really brought tears to my eyes. Hey, like I said, the animal ones really get to me.

And just in general, the whole concept of the story was really endearing and because it was such a short read, I think it's worth checking out!

Manga Match 47 Ne Ne Ne

Hehehe, I thought while I was procrastinating on studying for finals that I could crank out a couple more of these because I don't want to study. Or something~

Hm, I guess recently I've been thinking about a lot of different things. Like my housing situation for next year, if I'm going to graduate next year, what I want to do with my life. But all in moderation and all lowkey. Like I'm stressed, but not to the point of breaking down, you know? Although, if you're feeling stressed you should try some meditation apps hehe. Right now I've been using Headspace's student plan and it's pretty great. It helps me to just relax (and sometimes to just fall asleep whoops too relaxed).

So, if you're looking for something super fluffy and short this is for you. It's only 7 chapters, so you can read it and feel pretty good in like 30 minutes. But I do have to say...it is the romance between a 39 year old and 16 year old. Yikes. But besides that, if you imagine the age gap isn't terribly large it's really cute. Besides, the older guy honestly acts very innocently, so it's not too bad I guess.

It's basically this shrine guardian guy(?) gets married to this 16 year old girl and it's just their daily life together about her wanting him to accept her as his wife and trying to be a cute wifey. Honestly, if I think too hard about it I get kind of mad because it's like all she is is an ornamental figure, but if you don't think too hard it's just the cute daily life kinda stuff between innocent newlyweds. There's not a whole lot to say since it's super fluffy is all, but if you're looking for a short diversion from daily life, this is as good a one as any!

Oh, and he wears a mask so he doesn't get possessed. And you never see his face. Oh well.

And they have a dragon child. Please, do not question anything :)

Manga Mayhem 42 Wizard's Soul ~Holy War of Love~, Seishun Rikon, Anata ni Hana wo Sasagemashou, Bambi no Tegami

Yikes, so I've just quit my first ever real job kinda dealio and so I've had a bit of time on my hands with which to of course indulge in more manga before school starts. I've read these and I don't particularly feel like they've got quite enough substance to them to write separate posts about them so I thought I'd just mash them all into one just because I can.

First on the list going chronologically would be Wizard's Soul ~Holy War of Love~. This is a card game manga meant to have a moe moe kind of atmosphere with not a lot going on besides cute girls playing card games. And that's kind of all that goes on. It's got this Chihayafuru vibe to it, only because it has cards tbh, but nonetheless I had to include that thought. They're playing this card game that's apparently based on one that really exists, but as someone not really knowledgable about card games, I'm not sure which one it's based on to be honest. It's set in this alternate world where how good you are at cards determines your place in society. This girl enters one of these card game competitions in order to win money to pay back her father's debt and through playing the game comes to realize that she doesn't actually hate playing the game as much as she thought she did. She originally tried her best at the game with the mindset that if she were to beat her dying mother at one card game she would be able to save her mom from death itself. Ultimately she wasn't able to save her mom which drove her to hating the game. Facing all of these different opponents in the competition, she finally realizes that she likes the game as well. The manga has a good balance of drama, tension, actual card play, and clear narration of what's going on in the game so the reader isn't confused. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was an amazing manga, but it was pretty cute and a bit different from the stuff I usually pick up.

I realized as I was reading that her sister's names together would be ion canon lol which is kinda cute because they're so cute but their names put together would be a weapon

And of course there's a v cute ship

The second manga would be Seishun Rikon. This one was pretty short with 9 chapters and based on the premise of a girl and boy student with the same last name. Their whole class calls them a married couple and the two just accept this, not being too bothered by this. The boy is working on coding a calendar smartphone app to be used by the students at school and involves the girl by enlisting her help to draw a cute mascot for the app. It's a pretty pure manga all around with kind of an open ending hinting that they end up together. Hngh so pure

The third manga was a more supernatural manga with this guy that had nobility but no money and this girl with a lot of money but no status. The two of them are roped into marriage by their families, but really what brings the two together is the curse that the guy is under. There's been a curse on all the male heads of the family for all of them to die young. It's basically the guy and girl and they fall in love and then defeat the curse. It wasn't super special or anything and the characters weren't all that outstanding. I dunno, maybe it was too rushed for 20 chapters or maybe because halfway through it was just about them being in this rushed infatuation stage together. Eh.

The fourth manga was if you just took a manga where the main love interest is that cool edgy bad boy type and the girl has lowkey abandonment issues over a deer and lots of bad luck and put them together and they fall in love. That's all I can say, it was pretty short. LOL I just really like the mangaka and their work in general tbh that's why I read this.

Wow looking at this I'm glad I didn't try to make separate posts on these. Yikes. I guess not every manga can be a gem like Daytime Shooting Star or Blue Spring Ride heh.
