Manga Match 28 Watashi ga Motete Dousunda

At this point I'm just procrastinating on doing my homework, so I'm here writing manga reviews instead.

{Spoilers?}

So I started this manga after watching the anime and being thoroughly amused. And I thought that the manga would fill me with the same sense of amusement. And it certainly did, up to a certain extent. At the beginning, it was mostly repetition of what had already happened in the anime, which is to be expected from a manga being adapted into an anime of course, but what happened after that quickly started to lose my interest. I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting past that age where I think reading about harems or reverse harems is interesting, or perhaps I never really went through that phase to begin with, but it just wasn't that interesting to read anymore. Sure the guys are cute and they've got some substance to them, but I just wasn't that interested. But for whatever reason I didn't actually drop the manga, who knows why.

As you probably already know, the story is based around this fujoshi Serinuma and her harem of four, five if you count Nishina, people. This sudden appearance of a harem happens after her beloved animu husbando Shion dies and she goes into deep mourning. After so many days of unhealthy mourning she emerges as a beautiful girl straight out of, well, your traditional anime with pretty people. And then her harem develops and they all vie for her attention. In the end she ends up with her senpai from her club who liked her even before she became slim and pretty, not that you have to be slim to be pretty. And honestly I have mixed feelings with the ending. While it did end on a traditionally happily ever after ending, it was just alright. I mean I didn't expect much out of this comedy, romance, kind of parody on your regular old otaku, but at the same time it was a bit of a let down. It was like all of a sudden Serinuma realizes her feelings for her senpai and goes after him, despite her kind of love rival which was this random other guy, and ends up with him. And then after some uhhhh amorous relations they end up together and end up married and one of their kids is named Shion. Again I have mixed feelings because I don't necessarily think you need to show that you need to have a relationship with that sexual component for it to be conveyed as a full fledged relationship in which the two people in said relationship are satisfied and in love. I think you can have that without such relations. But perhaps that's just me, or perhaps a cultural difference, who knows, probably someone else does, but not me.

Anyways if you were expecting something with not a whole lot of plot, but might be a little bit relatable because you're an otaku as well and you want some otaku representation in the media you consume, consider checking this out. If not, well you're not missing out on a whole lot? It served it's purpose but that's about it. Sorry if this seemed kind of harsh, but that's just my opinion.
