Manga Blurb 15 Crayon Days

So shortly after I finished Watashi no Ookami-kun (I know I have addiction problems. Please let me live my life as unwisely as I dare), I saw this manga in the recommended. Also I just want to add that while I sit here and read about imaginary people and fall in love with 2D guys, my cousin that's younger than me by two years has successfully gotten early acceptance into a premedical summer program. Let that sink in. I'm reevaluating, but at the same time...I've sort of resigned myself to this existence. If you're not your parents' pride and joy, just know that I'm proud of you. Anywayyyyyyyyyyyys

{Spoilers and personal opinions}

I think the whole concept of this manga overall was really nice. It's about this girl that wants to make something out of herself. So she moves out of the countryside to Tokyo kind of following her love of art on a whim to an art school. She's so fearless and herself, traits that are truly inspirational. Her natural talent for art and her eye for color remind me of Yumeiro Pattiserie's Ichigo with her godly sense of taste.

Honestly I could've done with a whole lot more of her growth as an artist, but I suppose this is mainly a shoujo manga so there's only so much development that can go into that aspect of the plot. Well as far as the main point of the manga goes, it's a pretty standard romance. There's a little bit of a bump in the road with Saji's ex-girlfriend/rival trying to take him away as well as Saji's dorm neighbor also meddling. But besides that it's pretty smooth sailing. If you just take this at face value then it really is a calm and relaxing read. It's just the more nuanced and subtle details that made it more enjoyable than if it was purely fluff. I think what sets it apart is the fact that when Shima ends up having to do the duo showcase project without Saji she doesn't go off to find a new partner. She takes the opportunity to go solo to show Saji that she's worth standing at his side and that she has her own individual voice as an artist. I think this was the key (and honestly only) point of character metamorphosis. I mean there was the whole thing of the taming of the playboy, Touko realizing that she shouldn't rely on anyone else, and Saji becoming less of a jerk, but I think the whole thing being solely about Shima is what made it so powerful. It shows girls that they don't just have to wait in the wings as someone else takes the spotlight. They can be the equal and perhaps even the usurper to men. (Wow that turned feminist really quick. Sorry, my aesthetic is strong, independent, powerful, confident women (go figure with all the damsel in distress archetypes all over anime and manga huh? (it's ok. it's my mission to find more strong women :) ))).

Overall I think this definitely deserves a read. It's pretty short at 27 chapters and they're really fast to read through. There's a good amount of character development for it being so short. And her bird Mayu is so cute! She's got the Chocotan eyebrows (10 points to you if you know who Chocotan is). The one complaint I have is the whole...giving her body to him before he leaves for France. But if you just forget that and appreciate the nice ending the author gives you then it's fine. Heh...it's ok. I swear for the most part it's really age appropriate. So shush with your judgement. And also I don't really think getting married at like 16 in France is a great idea either. But ya know...you do you I suppose.

The bird was my favorite character tbh

This escalated so quickly. You actually cannot justify this without using the word naive at least five times.

Ok so it's an art school, but I think that painting all over a house without permission is a bit excessive.

Manga Blurb 14 Watashi no Ookami-kun

Hehe I think that from now on they won't be manga reviews. They'll be manga blurbs. I think this puts a more casual spin and more fitting name that 'manga review' which sounds really formal and stiff. If you couldn't already tell, that's definitely not what my blog is.

{Spoilers...probably}

So this was basically like a long, multi-chapter one shot. It starts off with Komugi moving to the countryside with her dad and meeting Ookami who's strangely infatuated with her scent. Plot twist is her scent is of her dad's udon shop. Very attractive. Bigger plot twist is that the cool boy clique of their school is actually a quartet of magical shape-shifting animals. Go figure. TL;DR they overcome Ookami's trauma over humans and he gets together with Komugi in spite of memory loss.

Honestly there's no legitimate reason to read this. It's super fluffy and either long winded or very rushed depending on whether you just wanted the two of them to get together or you wanted more character development. But anyways it left a little bit to be desired overall. There is some love triangle type stuff here (I was rooting for Rin, but you know I always like the love interest the main character doesn't choose). It's nice if you just like looking at cute boys and animals. Oh and if you want a short read. That too. All the loose ends are tied up and you get closure without really having to work for it. Fast paced and closure. Nothing more you can ask for of such a short read anyways.

Ahem...even though my blurb seems sort of lackluster I might've taken a lot of screenshots.

Honestly this short haired girl is me

This was my favorite sequence of pretty much the whole thing

Awaji is honestly the best character because look at the tanuki sticker! It's him!

I hope Rin finds someone deserving of him. Bless his tsundere self

*cries* when Rin suppresses his feelings for Ookami's sake

Raise your hand if you think animal cuddling parks should be implemented into school

...if he wasn't a cute manga boy would this be creepy?

*sniffs* Yata was a good guy after all

And I'll cap it off here with this cute image of Komugi and Yuu as little kiddos awh

All these pictures are my obsessive screenshots for your viewing pleasure. (Also I made them large size instead of medium for better viewing mayyyybe (idk will it look more fuzzy?))

Manga Blurb 13 Magical 12th Graders

Haha I'm calling this a blurb because school's drained all the soul I might've once had out of me. But I shouldn't be complaining. My life isn't nearly as hard as the lives depicted in this manhwa.

This manhwa is a true testament to the human condition and the struggles that everyday people face. The creators even said so themselves that they created this manhwa with the intention of sharing a bit of humanity and their personal views on life throughout the story. And they did so. They revealed some of the greater truths of human nature as well as some unique aspects of life that are special and yet somehow still universal for all of us. They explored how the pressure of school can lead to drastic consequences, how parental expectations can be misinterpreted by their children, how one mistake can lead someone to spiral into a never-ending cycle of guilt. This manhwa truly has it all.

Honestly I think it's worth the read if not only to make you feel as if your struggles aren't yours alone (because if you're a student this is all too relatable), but also to inspire you. The main character in this story was unconventional to say the least. She is an antihero and someone trying to somehow justify her existence and this gives her intrinsic motivation to power through life. (Where am I going with this?)

Well, for a relatable, funny, creative, and surreal story filled with quirky characters you should read this manhwa.

P.S. I'm sorry I didn't do it justice, but really...read it.
P.P.S. I wrote this instead of starting early on bio notes woohoo

Isn't it pretty?

Not gonna lie, seeing everything come full circle was really emotional

Anime Ventilation 38 Tantei Team KZ Jiken Note

You know...I'm not completely sure how I found this anime. It's really bizarre. I'm trying to think really hard about how I started watching this or why I was compelled to do so but I just can't find a reason why. I'm becoming senile at a young age. Yay me!

{I don't think there's any spoilers because...well it's a pretty chill anime}

So apparently it's also a manga I believe so you could always read the manga if you feel so compelled.

This anime, well there's nothing much to really say. It's definitely kid friendly. You could watch it with all your kid siblings with no panty flashes or any subtle innuendos anywhere in sight. It's completely pure.

It's 16 9 minute episodes which means that even if you watch the intro, recap, and ED every time it should still only take you max 2.4 hours or 144 minutes, which isn't actually a huge amount of time. It's like watching a movie. Except here's the deal. Since this is for the kiddies it's not very...complex. There's no hard thinking involved and everything gets resolved. It's basically just these 5 kids using their individual skills, ie language, science, social connections, math, etc., in order to solve mysteries.

The animation is a bit choppy which is saying something since it is from 2015, but I guess with low budget or being understaffed or whatnot that's the best they could do *shrug*. Their chibis are pretty cute and their character interactions are pretty cute since it's just a bunch of middle school kids around 11 hanging out. The only weird part is when they try to make it somewhat romantic with Sunahara. And then they try to make subtle ships with the other boys which is a bit unnecessary I would say. It's a cute standalone school life/mystery combo. No real need for the romance.

The best part for me was, strangely enough, the ED. It was kind of grunge (lol I don't really know if that's the best word, but it's all I've got) and a bit like the K-ON ending (you know the one I'm talking about. With the funky cool costumes and electric colors.).

Overall I'd say it's a pretty good anime to watch with your younger siblings if you ever need to occupy them. There's nothing really standout about this anime, but it's a cheerful, innocent interlude to whatever you might be going through ヾ(^∇^)

Look at these small kids and tell me, try to tell me, they're not precious

Although she's a bit ditzy, you can't help but love friendly, hardworking, a little socially awkward Aya

#relatable (all those junior high kids with boyfriends like smh why???!)

*whispers* Kakkoii

The subtle insinuation of romance with the "I wouldn't mind getting chocolate
ヾ(๑❛ ▿ ◠๑ )"

*sigh* but can I really complain about the unnecessary romance? (Ya, but I won't because it's kind of cute (I know I should pick a stance and stick with it but I can't TT^TT))

HE'S THE REASON I CAN'T REALLY COMPLAIN ABOUT THE ROMANCE. Why is he such a smooth talker??? He's like 11!

One last group pic before I go *waves*
