Manga Review 11 Iya da nante Iwasenai

Okay, I wouldn't lie and say that I have super high standards. In fact my standard for shoujo manga is pretty low. I just expect a decent plot, some nice doki dokis and characters with brains (this one's kind of optional, but it's nice). This manga was...an experience.

Okay, okay let me start with the brief list of good things. I liked the duck. It's completed. It's pretty short with only 10 chapters. Oh and I guess Rei's loyalty was kind of nice.

And sorry to rain on anyone's parade who sincerely likes this manga...but it's not too great. First off the archetype of the girl scared of boys was way too easily overcome. Literally An got a 5 second pep talk and then had the courage to talk to some boys and her fear is gone. Like wow. What a quick resolution of that phobia! I get it, it's only 10 chapters, but some consistency of character would be nice. Secondly, the obsessive, jealous boyfriend thing is so overdone. All of a sudden he comes back into her life when theoretically he could've been there all the time or he could've waited 6 months to enter her school, but instead he becomes an over-obsessive boy who hasn't seen her in a very long time. Very logical. =_= not really. You know what I'm really struggling to find though? A decent plot. So it's childhood friends that reunite and start dating with some halfhearted love triangle stuff with Baba-kun and then a conflict thrown in at the very end when they talk about Rei has to move away and their love will never die no matter the distance. Cliche. Very cliche. Everything about this was rushed. There was no character development. There was literally nothing unique about this. For almost every panel I could find another manga or anime with the exact same stuff going on that's better than this manga.

I'm sorry for the negativity. It really was a valiant effort. And I really get it, lots of shoujo manga are very similar. But this one was too cringy. Some people can pull off writing the excessive blushing characters in a very natural and naive way, but this one was so inconsistent and too rushed.

Don't read this unless you're bored, extremely bored.

This was the best scene. (You think I'm joking, but I'm really not)

They're literally kids. They haven't seen each other in years. They've been dating for less than...there's no substantial time frame give either. Oh goodness...
